Karijini National Park

Mt Nameless, Tom Price

Karijini National Park
What can I say but WOW WOW WOW!!! I had heard rumours that this place was AMAZING... But nothing could prepare me for the breathtaking views, waterfalls, gorges, rock formations and swimming pools that awaited!
Arriving in Karijini we decided to stay at Dales Camp Ground. Right next to Dales Gorge, it was a perfect spot to base ourselves for the next 6 days.
Although we did have to make a fast road side stop on the way into Karijini due to the welding bracket on the caravans water tank snapping!! Luckily Gary's Mr Can Fix Anything and after altering a few bits n pieces found around the at and caravan, a couple of nuts and bolts and a army of tools... We was back in the road still with a full water tank! Yeah!!!
Fixing the van!!!

After visiting Hamersley Gorge and swimming in the natural pools and "spa" (not because it's warm, but because of its shape.) We then spent the next day hiking, swimming at Circular pool, Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool.

The following day, Ella's 8th Birthday.. we packed a special picnic lunch and headed off again to swim at Fern Pool and eat our lunch ontop of the waterfall at Fortescue Falls.
Birthday girl!!!

Birthday Lunch

That night we had a platter of some of Ella's favourite foods... Pate, Caviar, Cheese and a arrange of other goodies! (She's defiantly my girl ;)) For dessert we invited the couple in the next camp over and ate a delicious chocolate cake that the girls baked and decorated themselves whilst swapping stories of each other's travel adventures. Ella said it was the best birthday she has ever had!!! Yeah!!!
Cake baking (yes that is a battery drill and modified tent peg Ella is using to whisk the cake mixture ;))

Blowing out the candles

The next day we spent the day hiking up/down and through the amazing Knox Gorge and Jofrey Gorge hikes. Wow... The gorges were simply breathtaking with rivers to cross, crevices to spider climb along, ledges to balance across and just the sheer height of the gorges was astounding.

Taking a break

That night Lyn and Geoff yet again joined us for another adventure filled couple of days hiking, plus a special dinner for Ella's Birthday at the Karijini Eco Retreat Restaurant.

Presents from Lyn and Geoff

For the next 3 days we hiked the remaining gorges together and even went back to the ones we previously hiked so we could share the experience again with Lyn and Geoff!!

Spider climbing!!

Conquering fears!!!

A special mention must go to Lyn who again and again stepped well and truly outside her comfort zone to challenge herself and complete hikes that she never dreamed she would ever attempt!! Super Impressed!!!!
